River’s Edge, The Palace and the Frontier bingo facilities all reopened after closing March 16.

“My office did an inspection on all four facilities,” said Greene County Sheriff Joe Benison. “We did a walk through on all of them and all of them are within the governor’s guidelines.”

Benison regulates bingo in Greene County. All customers will be required to wear masks and have their temperatures taken before entering any of the bingo halls, Benison said.

The electronic bingo facilities have also installed plexiglass between machines so patrons have a barrier between themselves, and there are hand sanitizing stations throughout the buildings.

Smoking is also not allowed inside the building.

“I have to be honest, I really appreciate that we’re all working together and doing what’s right for Greene County and for the state of Alabama,” Benison said.

Benison said his office will be keeping a close eye on all four facilities to make sure they are following the guidelines.

“The ones that are not operating within the guidelines will be shutdown,” he said.

The electronic bingo facilities are among the largest employers in Greene County.
